Park

Bass Lake Park for an easy nature walk

Flat paths around the lake, turtles sunning on the banks, and enough open grass for a picnic blanket and a field journal.

This is our default 'we need to get out of the house' park. The loop around the lake is flat and wide, easy with a stroller and two kids who walk at different speeds.

Bring the field journal

Turtles, herons, the occasional fisherman willing to show the kids what's on the line — there's always something to write down.

Same heron, same rock, three weeks running. That's the whole appeal of going back.

What made this one special

We've logged the same great blue heron in our nature journal three weeks running — same spot, same rock.
