Farm

Sugg Farm's pastures are our Friday field trip

Open pastures and woods overlooking Bass Lake, with the old farmstead buildings still standing. Plenty of room to run before we sit down for read-aloud.

We treat this as the warm-up before the actual lesson — twenty minutes of running the pasture loop, then we sit on the hill above the lake for read-aloud.

History, by accident

The old farmstead buildings are still there, and just looking at them sparked more questions than any worksheet would have.

She turned a fence line of old equipment into a two-week project. I just kept handing her library books.

What made this one special

My daughter found a fence line of old farm equipment and turned it into a two-week 'how things used to work' project on her own.
